Scott McCauley is a native of Denver, Colorado. He started pursuing physical therapy while undergoing his undergraduate degree in Sports Medicine at Colorado State University. While there he was the president of the pre-physical therapy club on campus where he as able to learn and connect with local and national physical therapy programs. He then went to the University of Southern California to get his doctorate in physical therapy. While at USC he was also able to be a part of published research articles for exercise physiology. After graduation he started his career in Washington DC working as an out patient physical therapist on Capitol Hill where he was specializing in orthopedic rehabilitation. He then returned to Southern California to do a two-year residency for electromyography (EMG) in Los Angeles, eventually getting his Electrophysiological Clinical Specialty (ECS). Since that time Scott has performed EMG testing for a variety of medical specialties including neurology, orthopedics, rheumatology, podiatry, neurosurgery and physiatry. Scott now teaches in the accredited residency that he took five years ago. Scott performs a complete study that is tailored to the chief complaint of each patient, in conjunction with the physical exam to better guide a more thoughtful and thorough EMG exam. During the exam he creates a comfortable environment that often leaves patientsâ feeling at ease, and cared for. The comprehensive exam is a valuable tool that will give findings that assist in the referring physician in their plan of care for the diagnosis given.
