Dr. Bates is a native Texan hailing from Canyon, Texas. She graduated from Canyon High School and, in 1999, joined the United States Navy. After bootcamp, she was placed in the Advanced Electronics Technical Core (AETC) training program in Great Lakes, Illinois. Dr. Bates is a native Texan hailing from Canyon, Texas. She graduated from Canyon High School and, in 1999, joined the United States Navy. After bootcamp, she was placed in the Advanced Electronics Technical Core (AETC) training program in Great Lakes, Illinois. There, she matriculated into the Fire Controlman rating and received training on the Navyâs Phalanx Close-In Weapons System (CIWS). During her service, which ended honorably in 2007, Dr. Bates was stationed aboard USS Hewitt (DD 966), USS John F. Kennedy, (CV 67), and Naval Station Great Lakes. The culmination of her Naval career saw her selection as Navy Region Midwestâs Senior Sailor of the Year in 2006. In August 2015, Dr. Bates graduated cum laude from Parker Universityâs College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas, where she received her Doctorate of Chiropractic degree. Additionally, she has earned a Bachelorâs Degree in Human Anatomy and Physiology and a Bachelorâs Degree in Health and Wellness. Dr. Bates has previously served the community in San Angelo, TX. Dr. Bates is the proud mother of one son, Matthew, who is soon to begin his own journey in the United States Navy. In her spare time, Dr. Bates enjoys camping, kayaking, fishing, and has joined the ranks as a recreational competitive power lifter.
