âI want to be remembered as someone who cared so much about change. To not only take care of the disease or illness but to support people with education about lifestyle changes.â I not only love my life, but I love the quality of life. I love waking up every day and knowing that I am doing something that affects people in a positive way. I always think of my own children and think about how important it is for me to feed them the right things, educate them aboutthings that will impact them negatively, help them help others and have empathy for others! I grew up in San Antonio, Texas. I moved here to take care of my sick father and fell in love with the East Coast. I became a nurse after my father became sick and was diagnosed with cancer. After I started inquiring about a holistic approach to his treatment in addition to his cancer treatments, and having his oncology doc be so dismissive to questions regarding his diet, exercise, and support for my fathers mental well being, I began my own research and decided to go to nursing school. I am so passionate about educating patients and their families about clean living. I feel that Dr. G is very passionate about educating patients about the prevention of heart disease and diabetes, which eventually leads to very poor quality of life, which is what excites me so much about working here at Atlantis Medical Wellness Center. I tend to have patients that say to me âyou really careâ and I DO! I think of every patient, no matter what walk of life as a VIP! My biggest passion about being a nurse is being an advocate for that patient. Sometimes that requires you to follow up and see if that patient really understands their plan of care. Sometimes, that means skipping lunch or staying late to find additional recourses for these patients. I am very lucky to have worked at Georgetown University Hospitalwhere they were not driven so heavily on the big drug companies. It is so great in that it is a teaching hospital and they are big on education.
